Elise Talgorn – Solo Exhibition on 31 March – 17 April

Posted By on March 24, 2012

Star Galerie, cordially invites you to attend Elise Talgorn’s Solo Exhibition Vernissage on Saturday 31 March from 16.00 – 20.00. See you all there!

    Who is Elise Talgorn?

Elise Talgorn was born 29 years ago in Reims, France. She has lived in France, Spain and Italy, and is now working for five years in the Netherlands.

Elise was flicking through the home comic books collection before she could read. She started caricaturing her teachers before she could write. After a quarter of a century of sketching, she decided it was time to produce some more imposing artwork and began painting.

    A Painter

She worked on two series of paintings based on neat lines and solid colours: les Calinous, a collection of tender, quasi-erotic embraces and the very religious Pilato/Crucifixion/Pietà triptych. In these paintings, the formal reinterpretation of these intimate themes creates a distance that protects the spectator. Unexpectedly, his subconscious reveals to him unknown desires, either from flesh or from faith.

A Cartoonist and a Portrait  Artist

Staying true to her cartoonist past, she has created entertaining, sometimes cynical comic strips: the Pepette’s Chronicles, Jobless Pepette, A Horse with No Name, and Histoires A L’Ombre. She also worked as an event caricaturist and realized family portraits.

    Award

Dutch light and her short-sightedness inspired several expressionist, partly abstract landscapes. Gele dageraad, a representation of a morning on Rotterdam harbor, won the Public prize of the exhibition “I love de Maas” and is now in the collection of the Maritiem Museum Rotterdam.

    Timeless Windmills by Paul Dirkse

    Exhibition of

    PAUL DIRKSE

    18th – 26th February 2012

    Opening 18th February 2012 from 15.00 till 19.00

Paul Dirkse, a native of The Netherlands, was born and educated in The Hague.  Paul was a dreamer during his school years, dreaming of travel and adventure in place he had only read about in books and seen on TV.  No one was surprised when, at 15 years old, Paul bought himself a backpack and hitchhiked his way to the south of France.  He later made his way to Israel where he lived and worked on a Kibbutz.  After making friends with a number of Americans, he decided to try his luck “State Side”. His adventure continued in America, Canada and on to Asia, where his lifelong love of art started.  While residing in Asia, he managed his own business exporting original Asian artwork and sculpture into Europe.

Paul is a self-taught artist.  He works with acrylics and oils, and is constantly experimenting with new styles and methods.  Paul believes that his best work comes without planning, but from the impulse of the moment.  In his own words: “True beauty cannot happen without a touch of magic, and perhaps a little help from the heavens”.

Paul Dirkse’s  masterpieces are more of the timeless windmills, sea and landscapes.

The gallery is open from: Monday to Saturday 14.30 – 20.00 and Sundays open by appointment only.

Prices of the paintings are from:  € 50, – 1.500

Sizes are from: 22/28 cm.  – 122/188 cm.

Solo Exhibition of Karina Dukalska: 3 – 12 September

Posted By on August 12, 2011

    Biography

My name is Karina Dukalska. I was born on the 1st December 1993 in a small city in Poland called Kielce. At the age of six my family decided to move to Holland. Back then I thought my life was being torn apart, because I was leaving my family and home behind. But now, I look back, and can’t do anything else than thank my parents. This move changed my life, in a way that cannot be described. In my opinion it shaped me into the person I am today; a happy and powerful young woman.

I’ve been going to international schools from the very beginning. Currently I am a senior at the International School of The Hague. This multicultural environment I’ve been in for the last eleven years made me very open minded. My friends come from all over the world. They share their stories about their home lands and other places they moved to, and this boosts my passion of travelling. I have seen a mayor part of Europe, but also Kenya and Cuba. Yet I am still thirsty to see more. My priority on my long list right now is Australia, India and Mexico. I know that seeing these places will make me grow. Not only widen my cultural understanding, but also expand on my artistic perspectives.

Other than travelling, I love photography –in particular lomography- and to paint with oil paint. I’ve been painting at a gallery run by Margarita Garces since 2003. My first works were pure observations of nature, and now they have developed into a play of colour and contrast. In my opinion, this is because all of my interests are starting to merge together. My recent paintings present the play of colour that is very common in lomography, details and contrast found in photography, and the main objects painted are gathered from places I have seen. All my travelling is reflected in my paintings. Without the travelling, I would not be able to present the authentic atmosphere of the places in my paintings. I try to present the passionate feeling that I soak in during my trips. I hope that the viewers can connect to the places that I have painted, in the same manner as I do. This is because the way I see the world is expressed through my works. They are windows which reveal my appreciation to the world in which we live in. In the future I plan to continue painting, to show the true colours of places that seem to be dull or neglected.

cordially invites you to the VERNISSAGE of A GROUP EXHIBITION on Sunday, 31st of  July 2011 at 16.00 – 22.00.

    by:

Scribe, Susana Gómez, Silvia Fratiloiu, Gienek Krawczyk

” An ART EXHIBITION ” of 4 Artists with diverse nationalities, both talented and renowned, will be showcased at the Star Galerie – Borneostraat 116, The Hague, The Netherlands.

    Scribe

Born and grown up in Paris I have my head full of colours from Le Louvre exhibitions and full of textures from the Parisian fashion shows.
I still have difficulties to get rid of the rigid structure of engineering studies that can sometimes show in my paintings, abstract is one way to express the boiling energy I have in me. I am active in clay sculpture too.
Style: Definitively abstract with paintings, abstract and figurative with clay  modelling.

    Susana Gómez

I have always had a strong interest in drawing and painting.
In the last two years I changed my architectural inspiration, as the architect I am, and I decided to look for the way of expressing my ideas and feelings by means of the art of painting.  So I have devoted myself to do what I like the most, to convey my vision of inner and outer world through painting.

I love the color, I love the light, I love to tell stories and I love to immerse myself in the world of the canvas.

    Silvia Fratiloiu

Inspired by Pablo Picasso, Silvia Fratiloiu’s work shows the desire to paint in an abstract fashion. Her painting technique was acquired through Maryolga Nieto and further modelled to her own feelings and emotions.
Other influences include nature and music, which may be experienced by the viewer of the present exhibition.

    Gienek Krawczyk

After so many years (I am 80) I don’t remember when I started with Art, perhaps some 75 years ago with drawings, colors, portraits, figurative. Two years ago,  I discovered a new kind of having fun in my hobby: to TRY ABSTRACT, why not?
Thanks to an incidental information at the EPO-ART-CLUB, I enjoy discovering how this new world in painting is even more infinite than we can imagine at this moment.
