Tooba Rezaie is one of those artists who was born for painting. She was born in Bandar Abbas, in the south of Iran in 1978. She thought herself how to paint, but when she detected a trace of skill and/or expertise somewhere or in someone, she was hungry to learn more and more. Being passionate about painting and learning even more, she went to the Art University Tehran in 1997, where she got her bachelor degree in painting and drawing.
She began to develop her own style, which is influenced by the culture of her roots, the south of Iran. She enjoys portraying, especially women, who play a big role in her paintings. She paints ‘beauty, pain and passion’, using intense and vibrant colors. In some paintings she also uses flowing forms influenced by Khoshnevisi Nastaligh (a special Iranian handwriting). It is where these flowing forms and movements that raised her interest in animation. She started to work as an illustrator and animator in the animation industry in Iran. She worked two years in this field, during which her name was mentioned in the credits of several animation series and some short animation movies.
In 2006 she went to The Netherlands to study Image Synthesis and computer Animation, which is a part of the internationally acknowledged European Media Master of Arts Programme, at the Hogeschool der Kunsten Utrecht. She graduated and is working as an animator and background artist for a game company in The Netherlands since then. Painting is still a part of her life.
Tooba is a successful artist. One of her painting is a part of the collection of the Tehran Contemporary Art Museum since 2002. She participated in eight groups and four solo exhibitions in Iran, Austria en The Netherlands. She made the design of a board game and the game she designed for the Dutch game company won several prices.
